The 2026 Met Gala theme was “Costume Art,” and attendees certainly delivered! Raising money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Met Gala is an event that celebrities and designers alike look forward to every year. It is one of the fashion industry’s biggest events of the year, and features a red carpet, a theme, and some of the most talked about fashion design choices. Each year, we look forward to seeing how these fashion design choices can inspire interior design.

Ashley Graham proved that neutral palettes can still make a bold statement. Both her draping Di Petsa gown and this playful Kiawah Island bedroom wallcovering add depth without relying on bold colors, resulting in effortless elevation.

The result is a space that feels simultaneously relaxed and full of personality.

Warm browns always feel grounded and timeless, and Misty Copeland’s matching top and skirt from Michael Kors is no different. This Fripp Island seating area creates a similar vibe through brown leather chairs and warm wood built-ins that add some depth to the space. These earthy palettes strike the balance between understated and sophisticated.

Deep Reds and Dramatic Texture

Nicole Kidman brought some timeless drama to the red carpet in her bold red sequined Chanel gown. The bookshelves in this Daniel Island home take a similar approach, pairing dark wood shelving with rich red accents. The resulting look for both is bold, glamorous, and a little dramatic. 

Playing With Contrast

Hailey Bieber’s blue and gold look by Saint Laurent balances cool and warm tones in a way that feels both classic and modern. Deep blue provides a powerful backdrop for the shining gold bodice, much like this luxury Kiawah Island powder room. The contrast between these two bold colors are proof that opposites really do attract!

Dark and Moody Florals

Naomi Watts donned a Dior gown that paired a dramatic black fabric with softer floral details. The artwork in this downtown Charleston living room reflects this same bold artistic feel, while still remaining classy and elegant.

Pink as the Main Character

We love a bold color moment, and Angela Bassett certainly delivered. She confidently donned a Prabal Gurung hot pink gown, bringing so much energy to the red carpet. This Mount Pleasant bedroom does the same through saturated hot pink accents that immediately brighten up the space. This bedroom and Angela both use hot pink in a way that feels polished and intentional, which is key when using such a bold color.
