A Life Well Designed: What We’re Saying No to in 2026
May 26, 2026
As we move through 2026, we’ve been talking a lot inside the studio about refinement, not just in design, but in how we work, what we take on, and where we believe the future of luxury design is heading.
For us, growth is not about doing more. It’s about becoming more intentional.
So this year, we’re saying no to a few things:
No to designing for trends that will feel dated in a year.
No to over-layered spaces that prioritize “wow” over warmth.
No to projects that move so fast there’s no room for thoughtfulness, craftsmanship, or collaboration.
We’re also saying no to the idea that luxury must feel formal, untouchable, or overly complicated.
Instead, we’re focused on homes that feel deeply personal. Spaces that function beautifully for real life.
Interiors with longevity, restraint, texture, and soul.
Inside the studio, this mindset is shaping how we approach every project. We are becoming increasingly intentional about the work we take on, the collaborations we pursue, and the experience we create for our clients from beginning to end.
As MDI continues to evolve, we’re also investing in the future of the firm itself, refining our systems, strengthening our foundation, and building a studio designed for long-term growth while protecting the relationships and creative vision taht have always defined our work.
The result is a studio that is clearer in its point of view than ever before.
In many ways, saying no has created more space for us to say yes:
Yes to quality.
Yes to intentional living.
Yes to homes that feel collected over time.
Yes to design that quietly improves the way people live every day.
Thank you, as always, for following along and for trusting us to help shape the spaces where life happens every day. I’m incredibly grateful for this community and excited for what’s ahead.
Warmly,
